19th International Biohydrometallurgy Symposium (IBS2011), Central South University, Changsha, Hunan Province, China, September 18-22, 2011
Dear Colleague,
It is our pleasure to invite you to participate and submit abstracts and manuscripts to the 19th International Biohydrometallurgy Symposium (IBS2011). IBS2011 will be hosted in the beautiful city of Changsha, China in September 2011, and will provide a multi-disciplinary forum bringing together those from the scientific, engineering and industrial communities to present research advances, engineering developments and industrial applications in biohydrometallurgy and to discuss and synthesize research priorities and directions for the future.
The Organizing Committee of IBS2011 has been established at Central South University, China. Professor Corale L. Brierley, Academician of U.S. National Academy of Engineering, and Professor Dianzuo Wang, former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, and Foreign Academician of U.S. Academy of Engineering, are the Organizing Committee Honorary Chairmen.
IBS2011 will add to the breadth and depth of biohydrometallurgical knowledge, which has been the hallmark of the IBS conference series since its inception in 1977. IBS2007 in Frankfurt (Germany) has emphasized the environmental protection connected with mining. The last conference, IBS2009 in Bariloche (Argentina), has extended to focus the microbial ecology related to biohydrometallurgy. However, IBS2011 will pay more attention to the applications involved in biohydrometallurgy, as the theme of IBS2011 is “Biohydrometallurgy: Biotech key to unlock mineral resources value”.
The main topics covered at IBS2011 will be:
- Fundamentals of Bioleaching
- Bioleaching Applications
- Microbial Ecology
- Mining Impacts on the Environment
- Genetics and Molecular Biology
- Microbe-Mineral Interactions
- Bioremediation of Metals and Mine Wastes
- Bioflotation and Biobeneficiation
- Biosorption and Bioaccumulation
The conference proceedings will be published in the Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China indexed by SCI-Expanded and EI (Engineering Index). The proceedings will be distributed to all delegates at the beginning of the conference. Authors of specific papers and keynote speakers will be invited to prepare full papers for submittal to a special issue of Hydrometallurgy, an Elsevier journal.
